The short version#
- No account. We never ask for your name, email, or phone number.
- No ads and no tracking. The only outside service built into the app is Adapty, which handles purchases.
- Your prayers, notes, highlights, and progress stay on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud if you turn that on. We cannot see them.
- The Rosary can listen for your "Amen" on your iPhone. Nothing is recorded or sent.
- Purchases go through Apple. Adapty, the service that tells the app what you have unlocked, gets a random ID, basic device details, and your purchase history. It never gets your name, email, or card.
- We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
No account#
You do not sign up or log in to use Thankful Heart. There is no Thankful Heart server that stores your information.
What stays on your iPhone#
Your highlights, bookmarks, notes, saved prayers, evening thanks, daily progress, Bible reading place, and settings are saved on your iPhone.
iCloud sync (your own iCloud)#
If you are signed in to iCloud, the app keeps a copy of your progress, your Bible notes and highlights, your evening thanks, and some settings in your iCloud account (Apple's iCloud key-value storage), so they show up on your other devices and come back after a reinstall. This runs between your device and Apple under your Apple ID. We cannot see or reach it. To stop it, turn off iCloud for Thankful Heart in your iPhone's Settings. Apple's privacy policy applies to iCloud: apple.com/legal/privacy.
Microphone and speech recognition (Rosary only)#
The Rosary has an optional setting, Listen for my Amen, so the next prayer can start after you say "Amen". When it is on and you start the Rosary, iOS asks for permission to use the microphone and speech recognition. The app only listens while the Rosary is playing, and it requires Apple's on-device speech recognition: if your iPhone cannot do that on the device, the app does not listen at all and you tap to continue instead. No audio is recorded, saved, or sent anywhere, by us or by anyone else. You can turn listening off in the app's Settings, or turn off microphone access for Thankful Heart in your iPhone's Settings, under Privacy & Security.
Read aloud and the Rosary voice#
When the app reads a chapter or a prayer aloud, it uses your iPhone's built-in voice, on the device. The Rosary leader's voice is an AI voice made from the founder's own recordings, and it ships inside the app. Neither one sends anything off your iPhone.
Purchases#
All purchases are made through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles your payment and your payment details, and we never see your card. Apple's privacy policy applies to that: apple.com/legal/privacy.
To know which purchases you have made, the app uses Adapty (Adapty Tech Inc.), a subscription service. Here is what Adapty receives:
- A random ID that the app creates the first time it runs. It is kept in your own iCloud so your purchase is recognized on all your devices. It is not your name, email, or Apple ID.
- Your purchase history, such as which plan you bought, when, and whether it is active, so the app can unlock Supporter for you and restore it on a new phone or after a reinstall.
- Basic device details: an ID for this install, Apple's vendor ID for the app, device model, iOS version, app version, language and region, time zone, App Store country, and your IP address, which every internet request carries.
- When you open the plans screen, and when you buy, cancel, or restore.
We use this only to run purchases and to count how many people open the plans screen and buy. The app never asks to track you, so Apple's advertising ID stays off and Adapty does not receive it. We do not send any of this to ad networks. You can read Adapty's privacy policy at adapty.io/privacy.
To ask us to delete the purchase information Adapty holds for your random ID, email us (see Contact). Deleting it does not cancel a subscription. To cancel, open your iPhone's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
Sharing cards#
When you tap Share, the app makes an image on your iPhone. It only goes where you send it, using the iPhone share sheet or the Instagram or Facebook Story buttons. Once you share to another app, that app's privacy policy applies. The app asks for photo access only if you choose to save a card to your photos.
What we do not do#
- No ads and no ad networks.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- No crash-reporting tools and no analytics tools besides the purchase counts above.
- No location, contacts, or health data.
- We do not sell or rent your information.
This website#
This website has no analytics and no trackers. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address the way any web request does. See Google's privacy policy.
Children#
Thankful Heart does not ask anyone for personal information, and it is not built to collect information from children.
Your choices#
- Turn off Listen for my Amen in the app, or microphone access in your iPhone's Settings.
- Turn off iCloud for Thankful Heart in your iPhone's Settings.
- Delete the app to remove everything stored on your iPhone.
- Email us to ask about, or delete, the purchase information Adapty holds for you.
Changes to this policy#
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. If the app ever starts collecting something new, we will say so here before it does.
